Spring Heights Education Center

Where Loving God Comes Naturally

Four different types of lodging are currently available at Spring Heights.
Our staff will be happy to work with you to determine which will best suit your needs.

Retreat Center Cottages

The Retreat Center is comprised of three cottages with three or four bedrooms, each with four single beds. Linens and towels are provided. 5 of the rooms have a private bathroom. For the other 6, each two rooms share a bathroom.

The total sleeping capacity is 44 persons. The three cottages also include a meeting room, a dining room and a lounge. The Retreat Center is designed for adult retreats/meetings and is available year-round.

Dormitory Lodges

Two Lodges are available, each with a capacity of 28 persons: 14 males/14 females. Sleeping areas are equipped with bunk beds and a private area for group leaders. Each Lodge has its own bath and toilet facilities and is centrally heated. There is also a meeting room with a fireplace in each lodge. Guests need to bring their own linens.

These facilities are ideal for youth retreats and are available year-round.

Village Cabins

The Camper Villages are located on Hicks Run in a beautiful, unspoiled wilder-ness setting. They are accessible by footpath and are a 10 minute walk from the Camp Center Dining Hall. Each village consists of a bathhouse, a meeting lodge, and sleeping cabins which accommodate 6 persons each. Turkey Ridge Village sleeps 66 (11 cabins).

These facilities are not heated and are available from May 1 to October 15.

Tent Camping

Tent/Trailer space (no hook-ups) is available in Rustic Village. Campers use the pavilion and bathhouse (open May 1 to October 15) at the adjacent pool.

Spring Heights offers a full, nutritious and delicious food service at both the Camp Center and the Retreat Center. Food Service is available year-round for groups of 15 or more whether you are staying overnight with us or coming in just for a special occasion.

Special meals can be arranged for banquets, receptions and other events. Talk with our Food Service department about menus and prices.

The Camp Center Dining Hall and Meeting Room have become popular sites for meetings, dinners, class and family reunions, and wedding receptions. The natural beauty of Spring Heights adds that little extra touch and provides a beautiful backdrop for those very special occasions.

The dining hall will accommodate 150 persons while the smaller meeting room will seat 50-75 depending on the seating arrangement. The Dining Hall and Meeting Room may be reserved together or separately.

Ropes/Challenge Course

The Challenge Course at Spring Heights is a series of outdoor, experiential learning activities designed to build interpersonal skills in seven areas:

Any or all of these skills can be emphasized as a trained Facilitator leads your adult, youth or family group through a program designed for them.

Types of Programs

Basic Skills Development -- A series of initiative events and group problem solving activities on the Low Course. After each activity, the Facilitator debriefs with the group discussing which skills were used, what could have been done differently, and how these skills apply to situations off the course.
Time Needed: 1 Program Block* minimum
3 Program Blocks* ideal

Climbing/Rappelling Activity -- Just enjoy the challenge of climbing and rappelling as an activity for your retreat or day outing.
Time Needed: 1 Program Block*

Mini-Course -- Get a taste of each part of the Challenge Course with a few Low Activities and some Climbing/Rappelling. This is the most popular option for youth groups.
Time Needed: 1 Program Block*

Entire Course -- This is the way the Challenge Course was meant to be used. With your Facilitator, design a program to develop the skills your group needs to better accomplish its mission. Then, experience several of the Low and/or High Elements, with customized debriefing. Ideal training for any adult group who will be working together in a common ministry.
Time Needed: 3 Program Blocks* minimum

*A Program Block is 3-4 continuous hours on the course with a facilitator. Example: 9am-12 noon or 1pm-5pm.
