Native American

Our Native American peoples are some of my favorite subjects.   Strength, courage and determination can be seen in their faces.  Character lines deepened from exposure to the natural elements tell the story of life.  In recent years, I found that an ancestor was taken captive and married into a tribe . . . perhaps this is why I have always felt a deep connection.

                                        Each piece is sculpted completely in the round.                                                      Different wood types are used, basswood, sassafras and cedar for the examples here.         

The buffalo head piece sculpture was transformed into a lamp.
